Projects
As leaders in this relatively new sector of tourism in post-war BiH we see ourselves as the pioneers of a movement that will set the stage for real sustainable development.
Our focus is on the rural and high mountain communities whose populations have been severely depleted due to the war and lack of social and economic means of survival. By sustainable we mean two things: preserving the ancient traditions that have allowed generation after generation to maintain good lifestyles and ecology harmony; and to introduce new, modern methods of eco-tourism, farming, scientific research, and other economic endeavors that will not drastically change their traditional ways and allow them to maintain families and community growth.
Recent projects include:
1. Set up the “Open Travel” Youth Tourism Network, under a Public Private Partnership scheme supported by GTZ , and various Bosnian and Herzegovinan youth organizations.
2. Prepared a baseline study for the JICA funded project “The development of eco-tourism in Jajce-Šipovo-Jezero and Blagaj-Nevesinje-Podveležje”.
3. Developed and implemented two GTZ funded “Youth Tourism Training” Seminar and training manual for 40 youth from Bosnia and Herzegovina.
4. Green Visions conducted two training seminars for the Mozaik Foundation's EU funded 'Cultural Heritage Trail' project in Visoko, Prusac, Kraljeva Sutjeska, Vranduk and Travnik.
5. Implementing a study for the development of ecotourism in Eastern Republika Srpska (Foca, Kalinovik Sutjeska National park and Nevesinje) for the Ministry of Trade and Tourism in Republika Srpska.
6. Heading the JICA Socio-Economic Study for the development of eco-tourism in Jajce-Šipovo-Jezero and Blagaj-Nevesinje-Podveležje.
7. Implementing a research program on Lukomir Village with the University of the West of England – this project won the Royal Geographic Society’s highest prize.
8. Assisted in developing a national park plan for Prenj – Čvrsnica – Čabulja * Implementing Eco-Vast Program for rural development and environmental protection with European partners.
9. Facilitating a University of Ljubljana education project for students of ethnology, geography and anthropology.
10. Key implementing agent for the OHR, Federation Tourism Board and the Republika Srpska Ministry of Trade and Tourism project “Putting BiH on tourist map”
11. Environmental training for journalism students at Sarajevo University (with Internews and REC)
